  • Codes of Practice

It can be difficult for an organisation to understand the scope of your responsibilities when refering to work health and safety regulations. That’s why there are codes of practice.

A code of practice gives you more in depth information and guidelines that workplaces can follow in order to meet the requirements of the WHS laws. They make it easier for you  to know what you need to do and there are multiple codes of practice allowing you to chose the most suited to your workplace. You can have a look at all the codes that they offer here on the safe work NSW website. The codes are admissible in court and can be used as evidence in determining what is reasonably practical hazard and risk control. However they are not mandatory. It is accepted that equivalent or superior health and safety controls may be possible in some workplaces.
